Underwater Contracting Ltd x Frame
See how Frame integrates with real businesses to improve efficiency and achieve results.
UCO was established in 2017 to provide ROV and Diving Services to the Aquaculture, Offshore and Inshore industries.
The focus of the company has been the aquaculture industry, developing a tool for daily mort recovery – the Foover.
Designed by Underwater Contracting Ltd (UCO) the first Foover, which combines ROV technology with a unique recovery system, went into the water in December 2017. In its operations since then, the system has proven that it can achieve total mort recovery more reliably and cost-effectively than anything else on the market while improving the environment and habitat of the stock.
Now working across Scotland, the Foover has been successfully operating in all conditions from the strong tidal currents off Shetland to farms in some of the remotest areas of the Western Isles. Planned growth will see the Foover fleet expand to 10 in 2019 with continuing ongoing expansion.
We asked Natasha (Operations Lead) from UCO about her experience with Frame.
Before Frame, what were the challenges you faced?
The main challenge we faced was that we weren’t keeping track of our assets in real time and there would be lost time trying to figure out which assets had moved location. This is due to the nature of our work and asset components often travel between client sites.
Why did you choose Frame Software?
Using spreadsheets for asset management was inefficient. We decided to search for software providers and after a demonstration with Certags, we were sold on Frame for managing our growing Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) fleet. We liked the idea of the web dashboard being used by our staff in the office and the app being used by our technicians on site.
How did Frame help?
When we started using the Frame software, we uploaded our assets into the system. Being able to assign and transfer asset components between sites and zones in real time has been invaluable. We now have up to date information on where assets are, with the unintended benefit of keeping track of asset stock levels within the workshop zone.
How would you describe the user experience?
We’ve all found the system straightforward to use in terms of uploading assets and transferring them when required. Our goal was to have all items tagged and managed via the software which we have been achieving so far.
We have been quite niche in what we needed from the system and Certags have been great in trying to understand our business when we have queries about how best to assign assets. Anytime we have a question they will get back to us quickly for a call to run through everything and come up with a solution.
